Summer Crafts - Beach Inspired Wreaths

It is officially Summer in the Bay Area! The weather sure has been warm and I sure miss the beach. So, my daughter and I decided to make some new wreaths. I made this burlap and ribbon wreath and she directed me in making an all ribbon wreath.

I always seem to have burlap and STYROFOAM forms. I also had some shells and ribbon on hand.

We just wrapped the pretty blue ribbon around the burlap.

Used hot glue to glue the shells.
And my lovely assistant with my completed wreath!

Now, here is my daughter's wreath. Let's just say that her tastes are a little more refined than mine...no burlap....just ribbon.

Won't these be just darling for a mermaid inspired party?

Stay tuned for our Summer Beach Treasure Jars!

Pasta with Clam Sauce in 15 Minutes

I love a good pasta with clam sauce. I couldn't believe how fast and easy this came together.! I guess it was my version of Semi-Homemade.

This, plus some wine, is what I used.

First, I got my pasta water started. Then I diced 2 garlic cloves and half a shallot and sauteed them in 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil. I popped the steamer clams in the microwave per box directions. I opened up the can of clams and added it to the shallot/garlic mixture. I then added 1/2 cup of dry white wine and let it reduce by half. I used some Sauvignon Blanc because that is what we were pairing with our dinner. I then added the steamer clams to the pan and stirred well. While all this was going on, the pasta is cooking away. When the pasta is done toss it with the clam sauce. I added a little bit of chopped parsley and some grated parmesan cheese. Delish! Linking up over at:
