A few little things

I don't know about you, but I am looking forward to the long weekend. I might not go into work on Friday so I can spend more time with Aurora and Jason. A little more time to craft would be nice, too. I have my Silhouette and 2 new Cricut cartridges to play with. I am kind of attached to those silly little cartridges and I don't mind having 2 machines. I just have to trouble shoot my SCAL3 because my Silhouette doesn't want to cut with it. I might just download MTC. Here are a couple of cards that I made with both machines.

Wine Pairing Party

A few times a year (for about the past 6 or 7 years) have what we call Wine Pairing Parties. We cook some great food and pair some wonderful wines with it. We have so much wine now that it takes a party like this one to get our inventory low. We had a smaller crowd than usual. There were only about 7 of us. We have had up to 15 people at them before. This theme was Santa Maria BBQ. We had Tri Tip, Pinquito beans, Texas toast, linguica and a few other things. Here is a link to some history of the Santa Maria BBQ http://lospadrescounty.net/et/smbbq.html The recipes that I used are there, too.

Ongoing Project

Oh boy, two posts.I took some pictures of my Disney scrapbook pages. We took Aurora to Disneyland for the first time after Thanksgiving. We all had a wonderful time and we took lots of pictures. That is when I decided to try out scrapbooking again. I bought myself a cricut and then an expression and I slowly started putting things together. The key word is s-l-o-w-l-y. With working about 50 hours a week and cooking almost every night, there really isn't much time to be crafty. Food is my passion and my art. I have some really crafty friends and I am intimidated by the stuff they put together so sometimes I don't even feel like trying to scrap. Here are my simple little beginner pages.

Little Luxuries

The other night we were watching Julie and Julia and Julie was making lobster for her birthday. That scene sparked a light bulb. Jason and I decided to have our own lobster boil! We remembered when were were kids, longingly looking into the lobster tanks at the grocery store, wondering if we would ever have some. It never did happen, since both of our families did make much money. Now, as grown ups with pretty good jobs, it was time to indulge. They were some pretty darn huge lobsters.
Even Aurora was amazed at how big they were.

It was her first time trying lobster and artichokes. My little epicure in training.

Cochon 555 and some Craftiness

On Sunday, June 5, Jason and I went to Cochon 555 in San Francisco.  A contest of sorts to help family farms responsibly raising heritage breed pigs sustain and expand their businesses while educating communities nationwide about the tasty payoff of supporting these farmers. Here is some information on Cochon 555: http://www.cochon555.com/menu/mission/

So, in honor of the occasion I decided to make a shirt using my new Silhouette and a Cricut cartridge. Yes, leave it to me to combine two of my favorite things....pork and crafting.

This is my first project with the Silhouette and it worked out great.
